How many print cartridges should I have in stock according to HP to follow these trouble shooting procedures???

One set of non-HP and two sets of HP print cardriges... According to the manual.
I am REALLY anoyed by my printer today. the yellow cartridge is empty. Now the printer refuses to print ANYTHING before I replace that fu*&§ing yellow cartridge! I just wanted to print some b&w pages but it is completely locked up. Argh!!!
