DIS2006

The DIS2006 conference took place in Tsukuba, a "science city" about 50km northeast of Tokyo. The EPOCHAL congress center is a huge and modern building, swallowing completely the few hundred participants of the conference. In the pictures below you can see a tree planted in the lobby of the congress center; it is a tomato tree, the first genetically engineered plant which was made here in Tsukuba.
